Wallpaper pictures of the"Mad Tea Party" spinning tea cup ride in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom - presented in 4:3 regular and 16:10 widescreen formats!

Set on the edge of Fantasyland near the entrance to Tomorrowland, the "Mad Tea Party" has been spinning guests round and round in the giant oversized tea cups since the park opened on October 1, 1971.

This classic Fantasyland attraction is straight out of Disney's 1951 hit movie, Alice in Wonderland.  Here, we play the role of Alice as we attend the Mad Hatter's un-birthday party.  Well manicured hedges surround the covered tea party and set the mood for the wacky yet fun scene from the movie.  Japanese lanterns hang from the ceiling, and a giant teapot sits in the middle of the table.  The tiny Dormouse pops up from the top of the teapot throughout the ride, taking a peek at the activity before falling asleep again.  The catchy "March of the Cards" song from the movie plays nonstop throughout the ride.

It's surprising to note that the original version of the Magic Kingdom's "Mad Tea Party" was uncovered and did not originally have a giant teapot.  As we know from visiting the park today, the summertime heat is often brutal, and frequent heavy rain is a nuisance.  As a result of those environmental problems, the "Mad Tea Party" was covered sometime between 1974 and '75.  It's believed that the giant teapot in the middle was added around that time.

Apart from having a roof and giant teapot added in the mid 1970s, the "Mad Tea Party" has seen little change for the past thirty-five years.  The only noticeable differences involve slight changing to the topiary and theming on the outside of the ride.  Otherwise, the ride still has plenty of that classic feeling to it today.

One of the best features of the "Mad Tea Party" is that like every other Fantasyland attraction, there is no height requirement and nearly everybody can ride it.  You control the spinning, making it a gentle ride or a puke machine.

The "Mad Tea Party" can be found at every Magic Kingdom park around the world, from Paris to California to Tokyo to Hong Kong.  Except for Tokyo Disneyland, it was an opening day attraction at all of the other theme parks.

Long lines are most common during the mid to early afternoon.  The "Mad Tea Party" is usually quiet in the morning and has less than a five minute wait in the evening.  This simple yet effective and highly themed ride is a must for anybody traveling with kids or people with a general love affair for the Disney rides.
