Storm Force Accelatron

Wallpaper pictures of the "Storm Force Accelatron" ride in the "Marvel Super Hero Island" area in Islands of Adventure - presented in 4:3 regular and 16:10 widescreen formats!

When Islands of Adventure opened in the Spring of 1999, the "Marvel Super Hero Island" area only had three attractions - "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man," "Doctor Doom's Fearfall," and "Incredible Hulk Coaster."

Now those three rides are a lot of fun and great for those looking for a thrill, but IOA as a whole was suffering from a general lack of rides as a whole and rides that allow the smaller riders a chance to have some fun.  It's not that great when the majority of the rides have a minimum height requirement or are closed when it starts raining (which is very common during the Summer).

A quick solution to both of those problems was with the addition of the new "Storm Force Accelatron" ride in "Marvel Super Hero Island."

Storm Force Accelatron - March 2001 - 01

Tucked between "Incredible Hulk Coaster" and the popular "Cafe 4" fast food restaurant is "Storm Force Accelatron."  The ride opened in the Summer of 2000 about a year after the park opened to the general public.

As a whole, there isn't a whole lot to "Storm Force Accelatron."  The ride is basically an industry standard spinning tea cups ride with enhanced theming just like the "Mad Tea Party" over in the Magic Kingdom.  The only difference between the two rides is that one focuses on a certain tea party scene involving the Mad Hatter while the other has the X-Men characters Storm and Magneto in an epic battle.  Needless to say, both versions of the rides are popular with the younger crowd.

"Storm Force Accelatron" is part of the "Universal Express Plus" line-skipping system like almost every other ride in the park.  Fortunately for everybody who just uses the regular line queue, this particular ride rarely sees the longer wait times like those for Spider-Man or Dudley Do-Right.  Check out the ride at night for a better ride experience and virtually no wait.
