Ridemakerz store (EXTINCT!)
(March 25, 2010 - August 31, 2011)
History and photos of the Ridemakerz toy car store in the West Side at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World.
After the closing of Virgin Megastore and then the Diana - The People's Princess exhibit, Ridemakerz was the next store to move into that location in the West Side at Downtown Disney.
Ridemakerz is a national chain of toy car stores that allows people to build and customize radio control cars. Between the number of cars and all the accessories, it's been estimated that there are over 649,000,000 different combinations you can build in the store. Ridemakerz opened its first store in 2007, and by 2009 the company had twelve more stores open across the country. Unfortunately, the chain began shrinking and closing its stores in late 2009, leaving them with only a few stores still in operation today.
Ridemakerz can be seen as a boy's version of the incredibly popular Build-A-Bear stores. Instead of creating custom teddy bears and stuffed animals, you're instead building, customizing and driving around radio-control cars. The Ridemakerz stores are filled with racing theming, from fancy tires to racing flags to even real life hot rods and muscle cars on display.
Some of the car models available in the Ridemakerz store include the Chevy Corvette, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Ram, Dodge Viper, Ford F-250 and the Ford Mustang. You'll even find some of your favorite characters from Disney's Cars along with some Marvel super hero themed cars, too.
The Ridemakerz location in the West Side opened on March 25, 2010. This location in the West Side closed on August 31, 2011, and be relocated to the Marketplace. That new location in the Marketplace also closed, and Ridemakerz is no longer at Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney.
