The Art of Disney store
(early 1990s - present)

The words "art" and "Disney" have gone together since the early days of Disney animation back in the 1920s. It's only natural that you would find Disney-themed art stores in the Disney theme parks and resort areas.
The Art of Disney store opened in the Marketplace at Downtown Disney in the early 1990s. The original version of the store had more of a focus of selling sericels and actual hand-drawn animation cels that were used in Disney animated movies and TV shows. As Disney animation switched to computers and digital effects, the usage of cels disappeared from the industry. The Disney art stores gradually switched from selling cels to other types of artwork from paintings to ceramic figurines.
Located next to the Rainforest Cafe restaurant, The Art of Disney store in the Marketplace continues to offer a variety of artwork, paintings and figurines from the Disney movies, television shows and the theme parks. An online inventory allows you to browse and order custom printings which include the classic Magic Kingdom attraction posters.
