Mel's Drive-In counter-service restaurant

Photos of the Mel's Drive-In counter-service restaurant in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida.
Take a big step back to the early 1960's and the American Graffiti-themed Mel's Drive-In counter-service restaurant in the Hollywood area of Universal Studios Florida.
Originally opening with the rest of Universal Studios Florida on June 7, 1990, Mel's Drive-In is a counter-service restaurant with the classic theming from the late 1950s and early 1960s. On certain days you may even catch some musicians playing, singing and dancing to the classic hits from that time period. At night, plenty of neon lights illuminate the classic restaurant, giving it its signature look from the Atomic Age.
As of 2013, Mel's Drive-In is one of a few restaurants in Universal Studios Florida that has the Coca-Cola Freestyle drink machines. For a small fee you can purchase (or reactivate if you already own a cup) a souvenir cup that allows you to have free refills all day. A sensor on the bottom of the cup activates the machines. There is a ten-minute waiting period between refills.
