Latest updates to The Florida Project!

Friday, November 25, 2011:

  • I hope everybody out there had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday.  Mine was filled with turkey, plenty of football, and spending time with my family and girlfriend.

  • Ah, the new Downtown Disney map.  As you'll see, the map itself has been changed and the West Side, Pleasure Island, and the Marketplace are basically lumped into one giant listing and then split into sections such as attractions, quick service, table service, and shopping.  While the individual items are listed in alphabetical order, looking at the map and trying to find out what a number represents is a bit of a pain in the ass.  It took me almost three times longer than normal to do the comparison between that map and the Downtown Disney map from June of 2011 as MANY changes took place between the two dates, and the current format can be difficult when you're hunting for numbers and not names.  At least this new map format isn't anywhere near as bad as those horrible park guidemaps from 1995 and 1996.

Friday, November 18, 2011:

  • Busy times, my friends.  Busy times.  All I'll say is that despite the extra hours working on future updates here for Florida-Project.com, other challenges have been popping up elsewhere.  Things will hopefully get better soon, but until then the stress levels are rising and my attention is diverted elsewhere.

  • Getting back on topic, the winter of 2011 edition of the Mickey Monitor annual passholder newsletter is now available.  It covers all of the upcoming holiday action throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.  In addition, it also features a sneak peak of the new circus-themed section of Fantasyland scheduled to start opening towards the spring of 2012.

  • And on a side note, the photo-sorting-project-to-end-all-sorting-projects is nearing its conclusion.  Well, at least this major phase of it will be finished.  Once that ends there will be minor sorting here and there, but more importantly, the next version of the photo updates will be shortly after that.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011:

  • I know it's been a while since the last update.  Believe me, a LOT of photo work is taking place in the background.  Let's just say that photo updates will be returning with a vengeance in the near future.  Hang in there, folks.  Lots of updates will take place once things are finally organized and edited.

  • Because I love you all so much, here's the Magic Kingdom 40th Anniversary special edition of the guidemap from October 1, 2011.  Included in the guidemap is the original park guidemap from October 1, 1971.  I was not able to attend the event in Florida a week ago, but my dad was there.  And it was busy.  Very busy.

Thursday, August 11, 2011:

  • The latest trip report is finally finished!  This report consists of 143 digital photos featuring new additions to the theme parks and some general sights.  Highlights include the new line queues for both the "Haunted Mansion" and "Star Tours."  Enjoy!

Monday, August 8, 2011:

  • An older Magic Kingdom guidebook from the middle of 1989 has just been added to the website.  Sometimes old boxes in a closet can hold buried treasure.  ;-)

  • I'm still working on the trip report from last week's adventure to Walt Disney World.  I've narrowed it down to about 150 pictures and that includes the new version of "Star Tours" along with the new graveyard in the "Haunted Mansion's" outside line queue.  Hopefully the report will be finished in the next day or two.

Friday, August 5, 2011:

  • The latest Fun For Everyone Walt Disney World vacation planning guide is now available.  Despite NOT mentioning anything about the new level of awesomeness in the "Haunted Mansion," there is some cool artwork for the new version of "Star Tours."

Thursday, August 4, 2011:

  • A few new scanned items have been added on the Assorted WDW Brochures & Flyers page including latest Disney ticket prices, a menu for "Earl of Sandwich" at the Marketplace, and a flyer advertising the new version of "Star Tours."  The WDW Hours, Times & Information page has the Walt Disney World Times Guide & New Information for July of 2011.

Monday, August 1, 2011:

  • Back from Disney!

  • A few random thoughts:  the new version of "Star Tours" is a blast!; the new graveyard outside of "Haunted Mansion" is pretty neat; "Primeval Whirl" is STILL closed (grrrr!); the new construction in Fantasyland is looking good; and "Test Track" seems to have the fewest number of broken cars (no audio, bad video) in the morning.

  • An ultra cool flyer advertising an event called "The Florida Project" (September 9-11, 2011 in Epcot --- absolutely no connection or affiliation with this website) has been added to the Assorted Walt Disney World brochures & flyers page.  I do love the retro artwork on the flyer!
