Welcome to the Guidebooks & Guidemaps section of this website, one of the largest collections of full Walt Disney World (and soon-to-be Universal Orlando) theme park guidebooks and guidemaps on the Internet!
This is the one of the primary reasons why Florida Project was created.
Like some of you out there, my family and I have been dedicated Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando fans for a long time. A very long time. My parents began making trips to and from Central Florida back in the mid 1970s, and I followed suit starting in the early 1980s. For many of those years from then to now we've also been annual passholders. One of our traditions of visiting the world-famous theme parks always involved taking home a couple of spare guidebooks and guidemaps. These were always handed out free of charge and made great souvenirs. As this website proves, they have also made a great guide through the theme parks' history. By visiting the different guidebooks and guidemaps you can see how the theme parks were presented to the public in its time and also see what attractions were new and which ones were still in development. Another one of the features of this section of the website is that I have gone ahead and listed the differences between each of the guidebooks and guidemaps. For example, if you visit the guidebook of the Magic Kingdom from 1987, you'll see what changes were made to the theme park and guidebook from the next previous edition to that one. In this example it lists the differences between the 1986 and that 1987 guidebook. And of course, each new guidemap from future trips will be posted as long as there is a difference between that guidemap and the previous one.One thing to note is that my scanner isn't large enough to scan the entire guidemap, so several different scans had to be used to cover the larger guide maps from the 1990s. The current guidemaps are a little bit smaller and easier to scan, though the main map doesn't always fit in one scan. As a result several scans are used and overlaping areas are seen on several of the images, allowing you to see the entire contents of the guidemaps.
NOTE - All of these guidebooks and guidemaps are copyright by the Walt Disney Company, Universal Orlando, and their respective sponsors.
If you choose to post these images elsewhere, please do not modify them (even at the most basic levels) and link back to the page on this website where you found it / them! It takes a lot of work on my part to make this collection available and free for everybody to enjoy.
Please select a theme park from the listing below or from the menu on the left. Specific years and maps will be available in each section. Older guidemaps are still in the process of being added to this website.
