2000 Epcot Millennium Celebration Guide


The official year 2000 Epcot Millennium Celebration "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand" commemorative program guide.


Lasting from October 1, 1999 until January 1, 2001, the Millennium Celebration at Epcot celebrated the arrival of the year 2000 and a look to the future with different people and cultures from around the world. In Epcot, this celebration included:

  • Mickey's hand holding a wand over Spaceship Earth with "2000" (later changed to Epcot before it was completely removed in July and August of 2007).

  • Millennium Central - information stand behind Spaceship Earth.

  • Millennium Village - pavilion housing a variety of small attractions and exhibits from different countries not found in World Showcase, located between Canada and the United Kingdom.

  • IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth - updated version of the incredibly popular nighttime fireworks show, this version featuring an even more elaborate display of fireworks and technology.

  • Tapestry of Nations - a twice nightly run parade featuring the Sage of Time, a giant drum, and an assortment of larger-than-life puppets. From 2001 through its cancellation in 2003, this parade was slightly changed an known as Tapestry of Dreams, focusing on the wishes and dreams of children from around the world.


Tapestry of Nations puppets:

  • Angel Girl - graceful, free, and beautiful

  • Aztec Man - primitive, precise, and angular

  • Bird Man - majestic, tribal, and colorful

  • Disk Man - humorous, gangly, and charming

  • Hammered Man - futuristic, agile, and strong

  • Inverted Marionette - toy-like, tender, and gentle

  • Sage of Time - fatherly, wise, and spiritual

  • The Sprite - feminine, shy, and fragile

  • Wiggle Girl - flirtatious, glamorous, and spontaneous


Millennium Village countries include:

  • Brazil

  • Chile

  • Denmark

  • Enitrea

  • India

  • Indonesia

  • Israel

  • Kenya

  • Namibia

  • New Zealand

  • Saudi Arabia

  • Scotland

  • South Africa

  • Sweden


In addition to information about the various Millennium Celebration activities, this commemorative guide also includes information about other new and updated Epcot attractions and activities such as:

  • Leave A Legacy - the ability to have your picture engraved into the special rock landscaping in front of Spaceship Earth.

  • Innoventions - continuously updated technology and concepts for home and business use in the near-future.

  • Journey Into Your Imagination - updated version of the classic ride featuring a trip through the "Imagination Institute", but without Figment or the Dreamfinder (in 2001 Figment was re-added to the ride).

  • "Postmark Epcot" - have a special "Epcot 2000" postmark stamped on letters and postcards.
