Themed to Hollywood's glory days in the 1930s and 1940s, Sunset Boulevard is home to two of the theme park's biggest thrill rides as well as two very popular live shows.

Though the street didn't open until 1994, Sunset Boulevard first appeared on the park's guide map as early as 1992. It wasn't easy to hide the construction project behind the walls, and the sight of the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel certainly sparked the guests' curiosity. The new street opened with a handful of shops and eating areas as well as the new location for "Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage" and one Disney's most innovative rides ever - "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror." The massive attraction looms at the end of the street, letting fear mess with the guests' minds as they make the long walk to the ride. The background music does little to drown out the sounds of screaming as frightened guests experience their "tour" of the hotel. It's common to watch first-time riders stand at the end of the street and stare up in horror, watching as the elevators race up and down the front of the building.

Sunset Boulevard remained relatively quiet over the years as the rest of the Disney Studios developed. It wasn't until late 1998 and the spring of 1999 until we were able to experience the spectacular nighttime show "Fantasmic!" and the high-speed thrills of the "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster - Starring Aerosmith."

Today, Sunset Boulevard is still one of the most popular areas of the theme park. With two very popular, E-Ticket thrill rides and an extremely popular nighttime show, the crowds tend to stay packed on the street for most of the day. The only calm parts seem to be about twenty minutes after park opening (after the main rush of people wanting to ride the tower and coaster), and just during the last showing of "Fantasmic!" Once most of the people leave the show, Sunset Boulevard is virtually empty and quite peaceful.

These pictures were designed to fit most standard sized monitors. However, just because your specific monitor settings may not be listed doesn't mean that you can't use any of these photos as computer backgrounds. If you have a standard 4:3 monitor, just select the picture size larger than your settings (if possible), and have Windows stretch it to fit the screen. This will shrink the picture and keep it looking sharp instead of stretching and potentially distorting it. Making the vertical pictures fit will take a little extra work, but all you have to do is open it with a paint program (such as MS Paint), and manually resize the picture keeping the same aspect ratio.
