Digital wallpaper photos of "Star Tours" in Echo Lake at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World! Opening in late 1989 / early 1990, "Star Tours" was the first thrill ride to open in the Disney-MGM Studios. Through the use of flight simulator technology like in "Body Wars" (actually called "Rediffusion Simulation"), "Star Tours" takes guest for a ride on a "Starspeeder 3000" for a trip to the forest moon of Endor while being piloted by a rookie pilot. As expected, the flight through space is anything but routine and by the end of the ride guests will have experienced a close encounter with a comet, being in the middle of a space battle between the Rebel Alliance and Imperial Empire, and a final high-speed trench run along the infamous "Death Star." The line queue for this attraction is very detailed and puts guests straight into the "Star Wars" universe. During the extra busy days the outdoor portion of the line queue under an Ewok village is used, but most guests only see the indoor space port version. Right away we encounter R2-D2 and C-3PO hard at work repairing a full-size "Starspeeder 3000" while a pair of Mon Calamarians keep watch from above. After that guests work their way past a few other talkative worker droids before finally reaching the loading area for the ride. RUMORS - For the past few years, rumors have been circulating around the internet about the eventual overhaul and upgrading of this attraction. Right now the rumors are stating that the attraction may be closed for a complete upgrading / refurbishment of the entire line queue and ride film sometime later in 2009. Rumors also state that the new version of "Star Tours" will open sometime in the mid to later part of 2009, partially going head-to-head with the new developments in Universal Orlando. Whether this is true or not is not known, especially with the economic slowdown and decrease in tourists in Central Florida. The upgrading of this attraction may actually not happen for quite some time.
Note - Each picture can be opened in at least one extra size. You may download and share these desktop wallpaper pictures, but please, do not modify or alter them in any way! These pictures were designed to fit most standard sized monitors. However, just because your specific monitor settings may not be listed doesn't mean that you can't use any of these photos as computer backgrounds. If you have a standard 4:3 monitor, just select the picture size larger than your settings (if possible), and have Windows stretch it to fit the screen. This will shrink the picture and keep it looking sharp instead of stretching and potentially distorting it. Making the vertical pictures fit will take a little extra work, but all you have to do is open it with a paint program (such as MS Paint), and manually resize the picture keeping the same aspect ratio. To help save bandwidth for the other visitors, please open each picture only once. If you like it, save it to your hard drive.
