Magazine covers and reviews for classic issues of Disney News and The Disney Magazine.
Starting with its first issue in 1965, Disney News was the magazine to get for those people wanting more information about the Disney theme parks (just one back then), live action and animated movies, and the Disney company as a whole. It changed names to Disney Magazine in early 1994 and finally ended publication in the Summer of 2005. The official reason for the ending of the magazine was lack of interest and people finding their Disney information on the Internet. My family stopped our subscription around 2001. By that point in time the magazine no longer had that Disney feeling to it. Sure, there were still articles about the attractions, movies and theme parks, but the general feeling of the magazine felt too commercial as there were countless advertisements for companies and products that had little to no connection to the theme parks. Our Summer of 1987 issue of Disney News had about forty pages of content. Our Winter of 1998 issue of The Disney Magazine had about one hundred pages of content. Sadly, the content was far superior and a lot more meaningful in the 1987 issue and other issues from the late 80's and early 90's. One of the things I loved in the older issues of Disney News were the short articles just showing the attention to detail in the Disney theme parks. There were short articles about architecture, horticulture, food (including occasional recipes), and articles about Imagineering in general. It was great and helped add on to that Disney feeling already in the magazine.
